Tosca Micro Cap UCITS Fund
Toscafund Asset Management, founded in 2000 by Martin Hughes, is a specialist investment manager widely recognised for its rich history of investing in the UK. The Tosca Micro Cap UCITS Fund focuses primarily on UK-listed “micro-cap” companies (defined as having a market capitalisation of up to £250m) and seeks to exploit the inefficiencies in this sector of the market.
Matthew Siebert is the Portfolio Manager of Tosca Micro Cap UCITS and is supported by two senior analysts, Daniel Cane and Jamie Taylor. The Fund is a fundamental, value-orientated strategy applied to the opportunity-rich and under-researched UK micro-cap sector. The Fund will invest primarily in “micro cap” companies which are, or are expected to become, constituents of the FTSE Small Cap or the FTSE AIM All Share Index; businesses which have the potential for fast growth and to become targets of M&A. The Fund aims to achieve risk-adjusted returns, targeting >15% (net of fees) p.a. The Fund’s capacity is set at £50m and has a diversified portfolio of 40-50 holdings, with risk limits governing position sizing.
Tosca Micro Cap UCITS Fund
Matthew Siebert is the portfolio manager of the Tosca Micro Cap UCITS Fund. He joined Toscafund in 2008 as an analyst for the activist UK mid-cap strategy run by Martin Hughes, and later launched the Micro Cap Fund in 2016 as its PM. From 2005 to 2008, Matthew worked with Dr Savouri at Quantmetriks. He started his career at Hoare Govett (later absorbed into ABN Amro) in 1991 in a sector research team covering utilities. By 2005, he was responsible for much of the technology research at ABN Amro and was ranked third in the Extel Survey for his research on Tech Hardware. Matthew graduated in Political Science from Birmingham University in 1989.
